Green Plan
The Town of Bouctouche was the first municipality in New Brunswick to adopt a Green Plan. Our municipal green plan was designed in the light of recommendations of Town Council, and research on similar experiments conducted in other towns and cities around the world. Development of the plan included input from the public as well as from an advisory committee consisting of various community stakeholders.
Since the Green Plan was adopted by Town Council in June 2006, it has become an important working and planning tool for the municipality. Four key sectors are targeted by the Plan:
- urban development and green infrastructure;
- internal municipal management;
- promotion of sustainable development initiatives;
- citizen’s involvement.
A thorough implementation of the Green Plan in the Town is an on-going process that should be evaluated on a regular basis. The Green Initiative Group (GIG), a group formed to supervise this implementation, is made up of members of the community who are interested in sustainable development for Bouctouche.
GIG members:
Mike Leblanc (councelor), Raymond Drennan (entrepreneur), Pierre Cormier (resident), Jean Goguen (Director of the Kent District Planning Commission), Éric Demers (Director of the Kent Solid Waste Commission), Daniel Allain, (Director of the Town of Bouctouche), Denny Richard (Director of sustainable development of the Town of Bouctouche), Mathieu D’astous (Community speaker).
We invite you to read our Green Plan and to leave us a comment or suggestion
