Waste Management

The Kent County Solid Waste Commission is committed to offering the best waste management services to the residents and communities it serves.

Wet/Dry Recycling Program

The Wet/Dry Recycling Program was introduced in the Kent County area in 2001. This program is an easy way to take part in composting and recycling at home and to help reduce the quantity of waste buried in the landfills.

Hazardous Household Waste Program

In May and October, the Westomorland-Albert Solid Waste Corporation’s household hazardous waste collection mobile unit visits Kent County communities. This allows residents to get rid of their hazardous waste properly. This service is offered free of charge and reduces the quantity of dangerous products in the environment.

Battery Recycling Program

Battery deposit sites have been installed in several locations all over Kent County for recycling used batteries. Residents of the Kent County area can get rid of their used batteries free of charge.

Backyard Composting Program

The Kent County Solid Waste Commission also promotes composting of household waste. Composting helps reduce our waste output between 30 and 50%.
